The “Slot Management” module in LFS automatically detects the optimal putaway and replenishment quantities. Therefore, the module calculates the volume (width x depth x height) of the item to be stored (or the packing unit) and compares this with the volume of the bin location. The replenishment order is detected based on the actual item size (or the packing unit), the shelf size and the horizontal dimensions (width and depth) of the item. This way, the number of items always matches the free volume in the rack. 

With the Slot Management, the manual maintenance of replenishment quantities for the item and the bin location can be omitted. The volume-based putaway and replenishment control is automatically performed by the module. Especially for a high number if items (of different sizes) and in case of many changes in the product range, the maintenance efforts can be significantly reduced.
